The Federation divides service into 6 distinct departments or areas of service.
The Arts – includes visual and performing arts.
We support Voices of North Georgia, Gainesville Ballet, and attend events at Quinlan Art Center, The Arts Council and other organizations in the Gainesville Hall County area.
Conservation – includes energy conservation, environmental awareness, and recycling.
We recycle cans and learn about various projects to make out of recycled household items. We recently took a tour of Gardens on Green. Some members spend time volunteering with the Hall County Master Gardeners program.
Education – assists literacy programs or teaching in any capacity.
We have our own Little Free Library that we provide books for families in City Park. We donate Boxtops for Education and school supplies to our schools and spend volunteer hours helping in schools. We better our own education by reading particpating in the GFWC ESO reading program
Home Life – serves domestic violence groups, eldercare organizations, scouting programs and many different areas.
Members volunteer with Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Our Neighbor, Inc., and countless other organizations. We have partnered with CASA to donate handmade pajamas to children in foster care, with My Sister’s Place to teach cooking lessons, and with R.I.N.G. to put together candy treats for the participants. We also raise money to donate to many organizations within this category.
International Affairs – reaches foreign exchange students and outreach to children.
Our 2013 international focus was Africa. We have made pillowcase dresses through the Little Dresses for Africa program that we shipped to young girls in Africa. Additionally, we have an annual dinner for the international students who attend Brenau University where we share southern hospitality and they share about their home countries. We’ve made boxes for Operation Christmas Child to donate Christmas toys to children through the organization Samaritan’s Purse.
Public Affairs – includes awareness of political issues and community safety programs.
Members support the Northeast Georgia Humane Society and Girl Scouts under this program. Additionally, members are kept up to date regarding legislative issues and opportunities to vote. Members are encouraged to support legislation that assists women. We’ve also done an annual project quilting lap robes for veterans.
